Job summary

TRC Talent Solutions is partnering with a leading manufacturer in Gainesville, GA to recruit a Senior Controls Engineer. You will lead design, integration, and optimization of mechatronic and control systems across multiple lines, with a focus on safety, reliability and scalability.

You will mentor teams, collaborate with IT/MES, and drive cross-functional automation initiatives, applying advanced PLC programming and project-management skills in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in controls engineering or automation
• Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or related field
• Strong diagnostic, analytical, and project management skills
• Experience with Allen Bradley PLCs preferred and willingness to mentor teams

Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize PLC programs for complex production systems.
• Manage large automation projects from scope to installation.
• Ensure NEC/NFPA/IEC compliance and maintain documentation and risk assessments.
• Lead root cause analysis, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement.
• Mentor engineering teams and coordinate with IT/MES across enterprise platforms.

Our client is transforming the manufacturing landscape through advanced automation, smart systems, and continuous innovation. In this hands-on, high-impact role, you will provide technical leadership in the design, integration, and optimization of mechatronic and control systems across multiple production lines. Working alongside cross-functional teams, you will solve complex challenges, integrate emerging technologies, and directly influence how products are builtall with a strict focus on operator safety, system reliability, and scalability.

Key Responsibilities

• Architect, develop, and optimize PLC programs (primarily Allen Bradley and Mitsubishi) for complex production systems.

• Manage large-scale automation projects from scope definition and budgeting to procurement and installation.

• Ensure compliance with relevant codes (NEC, NFPA, IEC) and maintain critical technical documentation and risk assessments.

• Lead root cause analysis, preventative maintenance, and continuous improvement initiatives for recurring automation issues.

• Mentor engineering teams and collaborate closely with IT/MES groups to seamlessly integrate automation with enterprise platforms.

Qualifications & Benefits

• 10+ years of experience in controls engineering or automation with a proven track record of leading complex projects.

• Bachelors degree in Engineering, Mechatronics, or a related field (or equivalent job-related, professional, or military experience).
