The Judge Group is seeking a seasoned Controller for a growing construction company. Based in California, this role leads the accounting function and partners with executive leadership to drive the company's financial strategy and reporting.

Responsibilities cover all accounting operations, monthly closes, construction-specific revenue recognition, audits, and tax compliance. The position offers a highly visible leadership role with substantial impact on growth and operating performance.

Qualifications

• Strong construction accounting experience required; electrical contracting industry experience is highly preferred.
• Deep understanding of GAAP, financial reporting, taxation, audit requirements, and internal controls.
• Proven experience managing external audits and partnering with tax advisors.
• Experience improving accounting processes, controls, and operational efficiencies.

Responsibilities

• Lead all accounting operations, including general ledger, job costing, accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll coordination, and financial reporting.
• Manage monthly, quarterly, and annual close processes and ensure the timely preparation of accurate financial statements.
• Oversee construction accounting activities, including revenue recognition, work-in-progress reporting, retention accounting, project costing, and project closeout.
• Direct tax compliance efforts, including federal, state, and local filings across multiple jurisdictions.
• Coordinate external audits and maintain accurate, audit-ready financial records and supporting documentation.
