HDR’s Building Engineering Services Group is seeking a Senior Control Systems Integration Technical Specialist / Programmer to program, test, implement, and commission control systems. The role requires coordination with design, construction, and client teams to ensure projects stay within scope, budget, and schedule.
Responsibilities
- Lead control systems integration projects.
- Participate in development of scope, schedule and budget.
- Maintain a fundamental understanding of programming and standard engineering practices.
- Use Microsoft Office to produce detail‑oriented reports.
- Possess knowledge of controls and automation principles and electrical circuits.
- Program the project control system as defined by the scope – SCADA, PLC, HMI, Historian, communications hardware, etc.
- Execute assigned tasks within scope, budget, and schedule.
- Coordinate with Design, Construction, and Start‑up team leaders for project control system.
- Download, test, and document control system programs and communication systems as defined in scope.
- Participate in field testing and commissioning of the control system.
- Be willing to travel as necessary; travel frequency and duration will depend on project/HDR needs.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- Experience in water and wastewater facilities, oil & gas industry, power generation and distribution, mining, or other industrial facilities.
- Knowledgeable of Rockwell Allen‑Bradley, Emerson GE, AVEVA Wonderware, Inductive Automation Ignition, and/or other automation platforms.
- Active participation in engineering societies such as IEEE or ISA.
- Excellent communication, leadership, and planning skills; ability to thrive in a team environment.
- Strong skill set in preparing client presentations, project memoranda, and reports.
- Preference given to local candidates.
Required Qualifications
- Associate Degree in Engineering.
- Minimum of 10 years experience in process control system programming (SCADA, PLCs, HMIs, OITs, industrial communication networks) and assisting in start‑up and commissioning.
