Job summary

Oshkosh Corporation is hiring a Senior Controls Systems Engineer to lead advanced vehicle control systems projects in heavy‑duty trucks. You will research, develop, verify, validate, test, and implement control strategies across autonomy, safety, electrification and connectivity domains.

You will establish technical requirements, simulations, and production plans while collaborating with multidisciplinary teams to deliver scalable solutions and support proposal efforts.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering with 3+ years of related experience or Master’s degree with 1+ year.
• Automotive or heavy‑duty vehicle background is preferred.
• Experience with vehicle CAN bus and architecture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead advanced vehicle control systems research, development, verification and validation, testing and production implementation.

It’s a great time to join our growing advanced technology team as a Senior Controls Systems Engineer working on heavy-duty industrial trucks. This role is responsible for advanced vehicle control systems research, development, verification and validation, testing, and production implementation. The role utilizes essential educational background and/or work-related experience, along with strong time management, communication, and critical thinking skills. The individual will follow the direction of their leader efficiently and provide feedback on technical hurdles and progress. Tasks will be completed with some guidance and according to a mutually agreed-upon schedule between the individual and the leader. Strong motivation to learn new technologies and skills in advanced control systems is essential.

YOUR IMPACT:

Responsible for advanced vehicle control systems and telematics research, development, verification and validation, testing, and production implementation. Responsible for working on several advanced technology development programs, including autonomy, active safety, electrification, and advanced connectivity. Establish requirements, including resources, equipment, estimates, test plans, and milestones, according to the needs of a project. Responsible for developing advanced control systems strategies in a virtual simulation environment using modeling tools or bench test vehicle simulators and transferring simulated strategies to vehicle testing and eventual production implementation. Work with internal and external project teams, including vendors, industry consortiums, and universities, on advanced technology development programs under the guidance of a supervisor. Assist with feasibility studies and project estimates, including manpower, budget development, and timelines, for proposed projects. Support proposal development related to acquiring appropriate funding for various advanced technology development efforts. Provide support and insight to engineering design teams.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Bachelor’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 3+ years of related experience; OR Master’s degree in Electrical or Computer Engineering and 1+ years of related experience.

STANDOUT QUALIFICATIONS:

Automotive or heavy-duty vehicle background with vehicle telematics experience. Work experience with automotive or heavy-duty vehicle CAN bus and architecture. Work experience in embedded software development using C/C++, C#, or Python is a plus.

Pay Range:

#LI-KL1 Pay Range: $73,200.00 - $117,800.00 The above pay range reflects the minimum and maximum target pay for the position across all U.S. locations. Within this range, individual pay is determined by various factors, including the scope and responsibilities of the role, the candidate's experience, education and skills, as well as the equity of pay among team members in similar positions.
