Job summary

Caterpillar is seeking a Technical Regulatory Compliance Engineering Specialist to support control system safety and risk assessments for mobile machinery. The role involves collaborating across teams to ensure compliance with international safety standards, and to contribute to enterprise regulatory initiatives.

This onsite position requires strong analytical skills, leadership, and the ability to develop solutions within a complex regulatory framework. Up to 25% travel may be involved.

Qualifications

• Strong understanding of embedded control systems from engineering development or validation with mobile machines.
• Strong understanding of risk assessment methodologies and experience with earth-moving machinery risk assessments.
• Demonstrated leadership of cross-functional teams.
• Experience with machinery functional safety standards such as ISO 19014 or ISO 13849 is highly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide Control System Functional Safety and Machinery Product Safety Risk Assessment support.
• Contribute to Enterprise regulatory compliance and safety teams and external groups.
• Collaborate with other units, suppliers, customers, and teams to negotiate and build consensus.
• Develop and apply risk assessment methods and safety analyses for hardware and software.
