Job summary

Metra is seeking a Sr Contracting Officer to manage complex procurement contracts and large-scale projects, ensuring compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. You will guide boiler plate specifications, solicitations, and contract terms, while fostering vendor relationships and supporting procurement decisions.

The role requires strong negotiation, ERP/procurement system skills, and the ability to lead without direct supervisory responsibility, promoting safe, compliant processes

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or four years of equivalent procurement/contract experience.
• Five years of experience in procurement operations, materials management, or contract administration.
• Knowledge of procurement principles, processes, and contract management for public/railroad sectors.
• Proficiency with procurement document creation and analysis; ability to interpret laws and funding requirements.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and administer complex procurement contracts and documents for large technical projects.
• Research market conditions, perform value analyses, and recommend cost-effective strategies.
• Coordinate bid/quote processes, evaluate proposals, and draft terms for awards.
• Monitor contractor performance and ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.
