Overview:

This hybrid role involves field work, office work, and remote work, supporting civil and structural engineering projects in residential and commercial settings. The position focuses on forensic consulting services for insurance, legal, industrial, and other clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
  • Investigate and analyze residential, commercial, and industrial properties to resolve claims and legal matters.
  • Perform forensic assignments within the scope of work and budget specified by the client.
  • Conduct field investigations to determine the cause and origin of construction defects or structural failures.
  • Prepare oral and written reports documenting causes of failure, extent of loss, repair scope, and recommendations, and provide expert testimony when required.
  • Manage multiple projects, coordinating with other experts and support to deliver client reports on time.
  • Ensure procedures are followed and verify safety features during project execution.
  • Utilize equations, applications, drafting and design software, testing devices, land surveying techniques, and other tools.
  • Adhere to land use laws and regulations.
  • Supervise and evaluate associate team members as needed.
  • Build and maintain mutually beneficial client relationships.
  • Gather photographic evidence, conduct investigations, oversee field testing, and review historical documentation.
Required Skills and Abilities:

Required Experience, Education, and Certifications:
  • B.S. in Civil Engineering (or higher).
  • P.E. licensure required.
  • 2‑10+ years of relevant experience.
  • Project management and/or field investigation experience preferred.
  • Additional licenses or certifications may be required depending on location.
Physical Demands, Overtime, and Travel:
  • Physical Demands – work in office and outdoor locations, frequent ladder climbing, roof walking, respirator use, lifting up to 50 pounds, and site inspections with client interaction.
  • Overtime – standard hours 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one-hour lunch; overtime may be required to meet project demands.
  • Travel Requirements – up to 50% field work; 0–5% out‑of‑area and overnight travel may be required; valid driver’s license and reliable transportation necessary.
