Job summary

Jobgether is seeking a Network Security Engineer to design, implement, automate, and secure enterprise network infrastructure across on-premises and cloud environments. You will lead automation initiatives, integrate security platforms, and collaborate with networking, cloud, and security teams to deliver resilient solutions.

The role emphasizes Python/Powershell/Bash scripting, IaC practices, CI/CD for infrastructure, and ongoing modernization efforts within a fully remote US-based environment.

Qualifications

• Strong professional background in network engineering and network security, with a solid understanding of TCP/IP, routing, subnetting, NAT, DNS, and application connectivity.
• Experience engineering, implementing, configuring, or supporting enterprise firewall and network security technologies.
• Practical knowledge of IaC principles, infrastructure automation, configuration management, and version-controlled infrastructure workflows.
• Hands-on experience developing scripts and automation using Python, PowerShell, Bash, or similar languages.
• Experience with CI/CD pipelines for infrastructure deployment and configuration, with source control tools and Git-based development practices.
• Demonstrated ability to automate infrastructure changes, validation, health checks, monitoring, and reporting workflows.
• Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills for complex network and security issues.
• Ability to own projects and deliver high-quality engineering solutions with limited supervision.
• Excellent collaboration and communication across infrastructure, networking, security, cloud, and application teams.
• Preferred: Palo Alto firewalls, Panorama, or comparable enterprise firewall management platforms.

Responsibilities

• Network Security Engineering: Engineer, configure, support, and maintain enterprise network security platforms, including Palo Alto Networks firewalls, Panorama, and related security technologies.
• Solution Design and Implementation: Design, implement, test, and validate network security solutions across enterprise infrastructure and cloud environments, ensuring alignment with established architecture and security standards.
• Advanced Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve complex network, firewall, routing, connectivity, DNS, and application communication issues to maintain secure and reliable infrastructure operations.
• Infrastructure Automation: Develop, implement, and maintain automation solutions using Python, PowerShell, Bash, APIs, IaC, and configuration management tools to improve operational efficiency and consistency.
• CI/CD Pipeline Development: Build, maintain, and enhance continuous integration and continuous delivery pipelines for infrastructure deployment, configuration management, automated testing, and validation.
• Automated Change Validation: Develop pre-change and post-change validation processes, automated health checks, monitoring capabilities, and reporting tools to reduce deployment risks and improve service reliability.
• Platform Integration: Integrate network security platforms with monitoring systems, deployment tools, and operational technologies to improve visibility, simplify workflows, and strengthen automation capabilities.
• Operational Efficiency: Identify repetitive manual activities and implement scalable automation solutions that reduce operational overhead and improve consistency of infrastructure management.
• Infrastructure Modernization: Support platform lifecycle activities, including software upgrades, vulnerability remediation, technology refreshes, configuration improvements, and modernization initiatives.
