Job summary

DB E.C.O North America is seeking a Senior Consultant to translate client requirements into robust operational plans and oversee high-quality work from a team of analysts and consultants. You will develop client relationships, conduct analyses, and present results to senior management from a hybrid work setting in Chicago, NYC, or Washington, D.C.

The role requires a 5+ year track record in railway consulting, a relevant bachelor’s degree, and strong communication and MS Office skills.

Reports to: Senior Manager - Operations

Location: Chicago, New York City, or Washington, D.C. (Hybrid)

Tasks & Responsibilities:
  • Transform client requirements into effective and efficient operational plans.
  • Responsible for overseeing and ensuring quality of technical work producedatyour direction by analysts and consultants on projects.
  • Develops andmaintainsstrong client relationships.
  • Perform research and quantitative analyses, conductandcoordinatestudiesand lead workshops.
  • Present project results to senior management.
  • Prepares proposals and pursuits, including the development of project methodologies,budgetsand schedules.
  • Leverage the knowledge andexpertiseof Deutsche Bahn’s railway subject matter experts in our other consulting projects, where applicable.
Requirements:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering,Transportation,Business Administration or similar (M.Sc.)
  • At least 5 years of related experience with consulting for railway projects withfocuson railstrategicaltransportation planning / urban planning / operations planning / routemanagementetc.
  • Outstanding analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving skills; ability to work independently; aptitude to quickly grasp new concepts and effectively produce results.
  • Strong written and verbal presentation and communication skills.
  • Experience inusing MS-Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word) for performing analyses and developing quantitative models.
  • Passion for tackling complex challenges inmobilityand railway transportation sector.
  • Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment with strong interpersonal skills.
Preferred Skills and Experience
  • Proficiencyusingthedynamic rail simulationtool Rail Traffic Controller (RTC)
  • Background inpassenger and/or freight rail service planning
  • Background inrailroad civil engineering
Working Conditions and Travel:

Successful candidate for Senior Consultant will be required to work on-site 5 days per week during on-boarding. Employees direct supervisor will determine a plan to transition hybrid work.

Afteron-boardingis completed, the Senior Consultantmay work from your home office and/or a well-lighted,heatedand air-conditioned indoor office setting with adequate ventilation.Minimal overnight travel by land and air.

Physical Requirements, with or without a reasonableaccommodation:
  • Ability to work at a computer workstation for periods up to 4 hours at a time
  • Ability to speak on the telephone for a total of up to 3 hours per day
  • Ability to sit for up to 3 hours without breaks at meetings
  • Ability to walk and stand for up to 4 hours without breaks at program site visits and meetings

We offer an annual gross salary between $118,000 and $153,000 + bonus (USD) for full-time employment, depending on professional qualifications and experience.
