In the role of Senior Construction Services Program Manager, we'll count on you to:
- To pursue projects with various public agencies and once contracts are underway to technically and administratively represent a project owner throughout construction on a variety of public and quasi-public infrastructure projects
- Manage in-house and sub-consultant (testing, surveying, and other technical service providers) contracts and staff and perform as point person for construction contract oversight.
- Business development activities with clients to assist with the growth of the Southern California Construction Management/Field Services program and marketing of HDR services to existing and potential clients and teaming partners.
- With the support from senior HDR staff, this individual will supervise and direct the activities of the field team and maintain healthy relationships with the client and all oversight organizations
- Will work on projects that may include rail grade projects, highway projects, marine projects and buildings among many others.
- Direct and coordinate the work of single or multidiscipline teams throughout the project's lifecycle (from development & initiation to close-out).
- Produce and coordinate several projects concurrently
- Establish and maintain client relations, and be involved with marketing, contractual, design and production meetings.
- Conduct work sessions for deliverable development in conjunction with other staff and stakeholders
- Track financial aspects of projects, and coordinate and adjust work effort with team to ensure that work is completed within parameters of agreed-to budget and schedule
- Work with the Accounting, Operational and Business leadership for periodic project reviews.
- Implement QA/QC procedures.
- Support the operations oversight of regional projects and staff including managing utilization of staff, and hiring and mentoring and coaching
- Review and recommend actions to maintain a positive financial outlook for the business class
- Perform other duties as needed.
Preferred Qualifications
- Professional Engineering License
- Caltrans or LA Metro experience, either direct or as a consultant
- The position requires a fundamental understanding of public and private contracts, familiarity with codes and laws governing construction and strong technical skills directly applicable to the type of construction underway
- Willingness to commute to a client's site
- Must possess the ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications and identify discrepancies or conflicts within documents.
- Scheduling software a plus.
- Experience supervising direct reports and managing a team of people, supervisor training a plus.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Planning, Sciences, Business Administration or a closely related field
- At least one of the following licenses/certifications:
- Requires professional engineering license recognized by the licensing board for the location of the position offered. Example: Professional Engineer (PE or P.Eng) license.
- PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification;
- PMI Program Management Professional (PgMP) certification;
- AICP Certification
- CMAA Certified Construction Manager (CCM) Certification
- Program management experience consistent with the following requirements:
- A minimum of six (6) years of program management experience, with at least four (4) years as a Program Manager or similar role with equivalent responsibilities and;
- Experience leading as a Program Manager or serving in a similar role on the delivery of two or more programs, each with a capital value of $350 million or more. Experience delivering concurrent programs with a total value of $350 million or more qualifies as one of the required programs.;
- Strong leadership skills with experience building a cohesive team culture and managing team members located in various locations
- Excellent communication skills. Comfortable presenting to client executives and in front of a large audience in a public setting
- Management experience with the implementation of projects or programs using alternative and collaborative delivery methods, including design-build (DB), progressive design-build (PDB), and/or construction management at-risk (CMAR)
- Familiar with the various types of tools used to manage large programs - PMIS, CMIS, scheduling, cost control, document management, risk management, asset management, dashboard analytics, etc.
- Experience working in an integrated fashion within a Program Management Office (PMO) comprised of both consultant and client staff
The expected compensation range for this position depends upon skills, experience, education and geographical location. (Stated benefits are for full-time regular positions. Temporary and part-time roles eligible for limited benefits.) {Irvine, Los Angeles and Long Beach}: $198,674-$283,820
