Job summary

Qualifications

  • High School diploma or GED preferred.
  • Five years of materials testing and inspection experience.
  • Three or more certifications (ACI Field Grade I, TxDOT SB 102, TxDOT Level 1A/1B, NICET, ICC or equivalent).
  • Valid driver's license and ability to travel to sites.
  • Ability to read instructions, write notes and memos; good communication.

Responsibilities

  • Communicate with dispatcher/coordination to meet field and lab deadlines.
  • Meet with project leads to discuss testing, sampling or inspection needs.
  • Perform source inspections at plants/facilities.
  • Follow safety protocols; handle nuclear gauges and field equipment safely.
  • May lead other technicians on projects.
  • Notify supervisor of progress and delays promptly.
  • Submit accurate testing/inspection reports daily.
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites safely.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Raba Kistner is seeking an enthusiastic Senior Construction Materials Technician to join our team in Lafayette, LA. Under general supervision, The Senior Construction Materials Technician is responsible for conducting field or laboratory testing, sampling, and/or inspection services.
  • Communicate with dispatcher/coordinator to ensure priorities and deadlines are met in both the field and laboratory.
  • Meet with supervisors of contractors, engineer/architect representatives and/or other project leads on project sites to discuss and coordinate testing, sampling or inspection of construction materials or construction procedures.
  • Perform source inspections at plant and manufacturing facilities.
  • Following safety protocols, ensure safe utilization, storage and maintenance of all nuclear gauges and field equipment.
  • May lead the work of other technicians.
  • Communicate project progress and delays to supervisor and dispatcher.
  • Submit accurate and complete testing/inspection reports on a daily basis.
  • Drive company vehicles to job sites in a safe manner.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • Must have a High School diploma or GED certification preferred.
  • Five (5) years of applicable experience in the materials testing and inspection industry
  • Three (3) or more certifications, such as ACI Field Grade I, TxDOT SB 102, TxDOT Level 1A, TxDOT Level 1B, NICET I or II Soils or Concrete, ICC Certifications, or other relevant certifications. NICET II and ICC certifications may result in higher compensation.
  • Possess a valid driver's license within the applicable jurisdiction and meet firm's auto insurability requirements. Able to travel to project sites and maneuver over rough and uneven terrain.
Complete Troxler Manufacturing or equal radiation safety course to utilize nuclear gauges, Technician Training and Certification Program (TTCP) from the Texas State Highway and Transportation Department, or ability to complete within 6 months of employment. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to read and understand instructions, labels, reports, etc. Good oral and written communication skills including the ability to write short correspondences, notes, letters and memos. Must be safety minded and willing to put safety first in performing all duties.

Work environment includes potential exposure to movement of heavy equipment on construction or roadway sites; potential exposure to hazardous dangerous chemicals and solvents, noise, dust, fumes, grease and oils, radiant and electrical energy, and vibration; all of which would require employee to follow implement and follow proper safety procedures and utilize appropriate protective equipment. Regular use of non-complex machines and equipment. Work assignments are frequently performed outside in all weather conditions.
This position may require protracted or irregular hours. Flexibility to work irregular hours is necessary due to client needs.
