Job summary

Layton Construction seeks a seasoned Construction Manager to lead project teams across nationwide sites. You will supervise multiple project managers, drive budget and schedule adherence, and ensure safety and quality in all activities.

The role requires a bachelor’s degree in construction management and 10+ years of PM experience, with strong leadership, communication, and risk-management skills. This position involves frequent travel and collaboration across the Layton organization.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field.
  • Experience as a Senior Project Manager, supervising project managers and other subordinates.
  • At least 10 years’ experience as a Project Manager.
  • Experience in ground-up light industrial and/or cold storage projects ranging from $60M+.
  • Knowledge of budgeting and accounting practices.
  • Excellent leadership skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage risk effectively.
  • Ability to train and develop subordinates for future job opportunities.
  • Ability to track and respond to market trends and to develop appropriate business strategies.
  • Excellent interpersonal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Champions “The Layton Way” by delivering predictable outcomes for internal teams, external teams, and customers.
  • Ensures integrity, safety, and quality of work in all activities.
  • Participates in fiscal and strategic planning for the operating unit.
  • Calculates project cost projections and aligns with profit objectives.
  • Ensures policies are followed with emphasis on cost, quality, safety, and relationships.
  • Monitors scheduling, procurement, and job costs across projects.
  • May supervise multiple project assistants.
  • Advises field personnel and coordinates with other departments.
  • Supervises other positions including craft workers and site engineers as needed.
  • Maintains relationships with vendors, owners, architects, and officials.
