Senior Construction Manager: Central Utility Plant Renovation

Job summary

USPRO is seeking a Construction Manager to lead a complex Central Utility Plant renovation at a major campus in Denton, TX. You will oversee on-site installation of a modular CUP, with emphasis on safety and continuity of service to critical infrastructure.

You will coordinate with engineers, operators, and subcontractors, manage shutdowns and sequencing, and ensure quality through every stage from installation to turnover of O&M manuals and warranties.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Construction Management, Engineering, or a related field.
• Minimum of 7 years of experience managing industrial, institutional, or utility infrastructure construction projects with CUP experience.
• Strong experience with major mechanical and electrical construction, equipment replacement or modernization projects.
• Proven ability to work in active, mission-critical, or continuously operating facilities.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs, single-line diagrams, submittals, drawings, and specs.
• Deep understanding of shutdowns, tie-ins, commissioning, and utility infrastructure best practices.
• Proven ability to coordinate multiple subcontractors and trades in complex environments.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily onsite construction activities for the modular Central Utility Plant installation.
• Promote and enforce a strong safety culture and policies in energized environments.
• Coordinate with the Senior Project Manager, engineers, operators, and subcontractors.
• Plan complex shutdowns, outages, and construction phasing to minimize disruption.
• Conduct site walks to assess progress, workmanship, safety, and conformance with plans.
• Support subcontractor coordination across mechanical, electrical, and controls trades.
• Review subcontractor scopes, bids, and change requests for high-value systems.
• Prepare look-ahead schedules, outage plans, progress updates, and risk logs.
• Coordinate equipment deliveries, rigging plans, crane ops, and site logistics.
• Assist in closeout documentation: as-builts, O&M manuals, warranties, turnover.
