Johnson, Mirmiran & Thompson is looking for a Senior Construction Inspector to ensure compliance during construction projects in Washington, D.C. You will conduct inspections, perform tests, and supervise project activities to ensure that safety and legal standards are met.

This position requires 7+ years of experience in roadway construction inspection and offers a pay range of $36.00 – $44.00 per hour based on experience.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of roadway construction inspection experience is required.
• High school diploma or equivalent; may be substituted for experience.
• Prefer supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations.

Responsibilities

• Review plans and specifications to ensure compliance.
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils, and materials.
• Measure dimensions, alignments, and elevations of structures.

Position

Senior Construction Inspector – The Construction Management Team is seeking a Senior Construction Inspector to apply standard inspection procedures to ongoing activities during and after construction for structural quality, general safety, and conformance to plans, specifications and codes.

Compensation

Pay: $36.00 – $44.00 per hour, commensurate with experience, education, and certifications. The range is a good faith estimate based on the requirements described in the job description.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Review and interpret plans, site layouts, specifications and construction methods to ensure compliance with legal requirements and safety regulations
• Perform routine tests on concrete, soils and other materials
• Measure dimensions and verify level, alignment, and elevation of structures, fixtures, grades and/or pavement to ensure compliance with plans and codes
• Coordinate and supervise project inspection activities to ensure contractor compliance of plans, contract documents, specifications and standards
• Assign, schedule and maintain subordinate inspection staff throughout all phases of the project
• Work on behalf of the Client to draft project correspondence, facilitate project meetings, and resolve construction‑related field issues
• Gather and maintain record documents
• Make field notes and computations
• Interact with the general public, government agencies, contractors, sub‑contractors and other internal and external parties to respond to inquiries

Required Experience

• High school diploma or equivalent (may be substituted for experience)
• 7+ years of roadway construction inspection experience

Preferred Experience

• Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Civil Engineering
• Supervisory experience in construction management/inspection situations
• Ability to act in an Owner’s Agent/Responsible in Charge role

Working Conditions

Work is performed in the field. Ability to extensively bend, kneel, stand, shovel, and lift and carry objects weighing up to 25 lbs as needed. Work may be conducted outside in heat/cold, wet/humid, and dry/arid conditions.
