Job summary

Virginia Tech is seeking a Construction Field Representative (CFR) to provide daily inspections for quality assurance of capital and non-capital construction projects. You will monitor conformance with approved drawings from implementation through post-construction and ensure compliance with university design standards.

The CFR will also help develop and manage project delivery schedules, apply professional construction knowledge to monitor progress, and build consensus among stakeholders,

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction technology, engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Experience with complex building and infrastructure design and construction.
• Demonstrated conflict resolution and negotiation skills.
• Working knowledge of site/building design and construction processes.
• Ability to interpret design/construction documents, drawings, and schedules.
• Excellent communication for construction oversight.

Responsibilities

• Provide daily inspections for quality assurance of construction projects.
• Prepare daily reports and coordinate with contractors for QC/QA.
• Ensure projects are constructed per approved drawings from implementation to post-construction.
• Monitor compliance with university design and construction standards.
• Develop and manage project delivery schedules with funding approvals.
• Collaborate with stakeholders, consultants, and contractors.
