Job summary

The Walsh Group in Long Beach, CA is seeking a Construction Estimator to support management, operations and estimating staff in reviewing plans, requirements and specifications. The estimator will lead a team, develop and manage portions of the estimate and ensure accurate cost projections for a range of projects.

Qualified candidates have extensive estimating experience on large Commercial, Residential, Healthcare and Transportation projects.

Qualifications

5 years of experience or College Degree with 3 years of experience.
Experience estimating projects over $30M.
Understanding of all applicable estimating software.
Extensive knowledge of construction costs and engineering principles.
Well organized, flexible, detail oriented and able to multi-task.
Effective presentation skills and clear written/oral communication.

Responsibilities

Review project plans, requirements and specifications.
Coordinate a team of estimators on large multidisciplinary estimates.
Determine labor and equipment costs.
Perform quantity takeoffs and material pricing.
Review bid documents and assess project risks.
Understand project logistics and schedule.
Prepare bid packages.
Compare and analyze subcontractor and supplier bids.
Review quotes and estimates with Project Management Team.
Prepare estimates at different levels of completion (conceptual, Schematic, DD, CD).
Assist with post-bid buyouts.
Comprehend contract requirements for diversity compliance.
