Job summary

Wiss is seeking an experienced Senior Assurance Associate to join our Florham Park, NJ team. You will execute audit and assurance engagements for construction clients, review financial statements and workpapers, and collaborate with engagement leaders to ensure timely delivery and high-quality results.

You will develop expertise in construction-specific accounting issues (WIP, job costing, percentage-of-completion) and build strong client relationships while delivering exceptional service.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field required.
• 3-4+ years of progressive public accounting experience.
• Construction audit experience strongly preferred.
• CPA license or active progress toward CPA certification preferred.
• Strong understanding of GAAP and GAAS.
• Experience preparing and/or reviewing financial statements and audit workpapers.
• Knowledge of construction accounting concepts (WIP, job costing, percentage-of-completion, contract revenue recognition).

Responsibilities

• Execute audit and assurance engagements for construction clients from planning through completion.
• Prepare and review audit workpapers, financial statements, and disclosures.
• Perform audit procedures including testing of cash, fixed assets, debt, revenue, expenses, and other significant accounts.
• Gain exposure to construction-specific accounting matters (WIP, job costing, % complete, contract revenue).
• Evaluate internal controls and identify risks or areas for improvement.
• Communicate with clients to obtain information and resolve questions.
• Assist with planning and coordinating engagement activities to meet deadlines.
• Review work prepared by Associates and provide guidance.
• Develop client relationships across construction companies and contracting businesses.
• Identify and communicate accounting or audit issues to engagement leadership.
