Role Description:
The Senior Computer Systems Engineer is a full-time, on-site role based in Alexandria, VA. This role is responsible for designing, implementing, and maintaining complex computer systems that support federal and defense operations, including servers, networks, and related infrastructure. Day-to-day activities include administering systems, monitoring performance and security, troubleshooting technical issues, and coordinating with cross-functional teams to ensure reliable and secure IT services. The engineer will be proficient with the Microsoft Windows Server environment with a minimum of 7 years’ experience administering, securing, and maintaining servers, an in-depth understanding of modern Microsoft Active Directory (AD) infrastructure, full understanding of Microsoft Windows 2016, 2019, and later server implementation, experience in TCP/IP and VMware Virtualization technologies, and experience in DoD security practices.

Qualifications
- Candidates should possess strong Systems Engineering and Information Technology skills, including experience designing, integrating, and supporting complex enterprise environments.
- Candidates will support mission applications and mission-essential daily tasks.
- Candidates should possess advanced troubleshooting skills to resolve mission applications support problems.
- Candidates will perform diagnoses of user-identified and hardware problems.
- Candidates will provide one-on-one end-user assistance to Comptroller personnel on software installed on PC and applications installed on servers.
- Candidates will perform ongoing system integration and secure operational support for various Comptroller Mission Essential Applications (MEAs) and services for OUSD(C) so that they may share pre-decisional information and processes securely in a homogeneous environment within OUSD(C) and JSP enclave.
- Candidates will support the enterprise infrastructure to operate, administer, secure, and maintain the OUSDC Production, Development, and Test environment.
- Candidates will provide MS Windows architecture engineering services (i.e., Active Directory, Group Policy Objects (GPO) security compliance, server hardware configuration, server monitoring, managing, and maintaining)
- Candidates will run ACAS scan jobs on COMPT systems to address vulnerabilities.
- Candidates will monitor and perform daily checks of the JSP HBSS policy implementations.
- Update antivirus definitions on OUSDC systems via the management console.
- Ensure availability and functionality of Comptroller mission-critical application servers.
- Familiar with server operating system processes (i.e. how systems are built and managed).
- Support the requisition and issuance of SIPR Tokens under JSP Registration Authority (RA) guidelines.
- Establish and maintain a process to manage unclassified and classified Enterprise and Comptroller-specific mission application accounts.
- Organize, set up, and support video teleconferencing (VTC)
- Provide instructions and training to OUSDC end-users.
- Strong analytical and communication skills, ability to work collaboratively on-site, and commitment to high-quality, mission-focused service delivery.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or a related field; or equivalent experience.
- 7+ years’ experience administering, securing, and maintaining mission systems servers,
- 4+ years’ experience with VMware Virtualization technologies (VMware server and Virtual Data Center)
- 5+ years’ experience in TCP/IP
- In-depth understanding of modern Microsoft Active Directory (AD) infrastructure
- Experience with Microsoft Windows 2016 or newer server implementation and support
- Experience supporting Video Teleconferencing (VTC)
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred In-depth understanding of DoD infrastructure and IT systems
Preferred experience providing network administration support to DoD users and systems
Skills/Certifications/Training
Security+ CE required; MCP or MCSE preferred.
