Job summary

Jobot in Santa Ana, CA, is seeking a Senior Composite Structures Engineer to drive advanced composite design from concept to production. You will lead teams across design, analysis, tooling, and quality to deliver high-performance aerospace structures.

The role focuses on material selection, laminate schedules, and manufacturability, with opportunities to influence standards, processes, and continuous improvement in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Aerospace, Mechanical, Materials Science or related engineering field required; master's preferred.
• Experience in composite structural design or related engineering role.
• Extensive experience designing composite structures and components, preferably in aerospace.
• Strong proficiency in 3D CAD modeling, drafting, and design release using CATIA, NX or SolidWorks.
• Strong understanding of composite materials, laminate theory, ply orientation, laminate schedules, ply books and stack-ups.
• Experience with structural analysis and FEA, including strength, stiffness, fatigue and damage tolerance.
• Experience applying design-for-manufacturability and working with manufacturing teams.
• Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes (autoclave, out-of-autoclave, RTM).
• Familiarity with aerospace structural requirements and AS9100 quality systems.
• Experience supporting prototype development, first article inspections, production launches, and issue resolution.
• Ability to develop and maintain engineering documentation and configuration management records.
• Strong engineering judgement and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
• Project management experience preferred.
• Aerospace-specific composite design experience strongly preferred.

Job Details

• Experience with structural analysis and finite element analysis (FEA), including strength, stiffness, fatigue, and damage tolerance considerations.
• Experience applying design-for-manufacturability principles and working directly with manufacturing teams in a production environment.
• Familiarity with composite manufacturing processes, such as autoclave curing, out-of-autoclave processing, and resin transfer molding.
• Familiarity with aerospace structural requirements, certification activities, and quality management systems such as AS9100.
• Experience supporting prototype development, first article inspections, production launches, and engineering issue resolution.
• Ability to develop and maintain engineering documentation, technical reports, and configuration management records.
• Strong engineering judgment and analytical problem-solving capabilities.
• Project management experience preferred
• Aerospace-specific composite design experience strongly preferred.
