Job summary

Karman Space and Defense in Huntington Beach, CA is seeking a Manufacturing Engineer III to lead composite aerospace manufacturing initiatives. You will review drawings, develop tooling, and drive producibility improvements to meet program requirements.

Requirements include 5 years of aerospace/composite experience, GD&T proficiency, and the ability to obtain DoD clearance. Occasional travel may be required; benefits include healthcare, 401(k), PTO, and more.

Qualifications

• 5 years of aerospace manufacturing or composite design experience.
• Experience with composite manufacturing; autoclave or press molding is a plus.
• GD&T and blueprint reading expertise.
• Experience designing molds, fixtures and tooling for composites.
• Ability to read engineering drawings and specifications.
• DoD security clearance or ability to obtain one.

Responsibilities

• Oversee day-to-day status of engineering and manufacturing activities to meet requirements.
• Review drawings/specifications for producibility and cost improvements.
• Formulate conceptual designs satisfying customer/system requirements.
• Develop manufacturing process documentation for composite parts.
• Design or review tooling to meet production rate and quality needs.
• Act as interface with customers for status updates and reviews.
• Support root-cause analysis and corrective actions for nonconformances.
• Peer review build documentation and tooling designs.
• Develop proposals for customer RFQs.
