Job summary

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing, public relations, or related program.
  • Five years of experience in communications, marketing, or related professional experience.
  • Two years of media or public relations experience.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills, including grammatical, copywriting, and editing skills.
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic communications support to College leadership and Board of Trustees, including drafting emails, speeches, and media materials.
  • Lead development and execution of internal communications strategy, including updates and major campus events.
  • Manage external communications content, ensuring AP style consistency across channels.
  • Lead writing and development of major institutional publications and reports.
  • Serve as College's primary media relations contact, managing inquiries and pitching stories.
  • Co-develop and implement media relations strategies and provide regular updates on outcomes.
  • Create content highlighting student success, alumni achievements, employee accomplishments, donor impact, and programs.
  • Lead crisis and emergency communications, maintain Crisis Communication Plan, and act as on-call PIO.
  • Supervise communications staff and freelancers, manage project calendars and workflows.

This position will be responsible for supporting processes which includes leading media relations and assisting with crisis communication. They will maintain a consistent brand and voice throughout all projects and ensure adherence to ICC Brand Standards.**Compensation for the Senior Communications Specialist is $55,556.80 - $62,504.00 annually.****In order to have a complete application, you must provide a resume and cover letter.****Essential Functions***This list is meant to be representative, not exhaustive.
