Job summary

State of South Carolina seeks a Senior Communications Manager to lead the visual, digital, and multimedia communications for the State Treasurer’s Office and Consumer Programs. This role advances the agency's communications strategy and public engagement efforts.

The position oversees the development of digital content, branding, videography, photography, print collateral, and social media. It also involves writing/editing press materials and coordinating analytics for impact.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Business Administration or a related field plus a minimum of 5 years of related experience.
• Exemplary writing, editing and proofreading skills are essential.
• Strong knowledge of external communications theory and best practices.
• Superior media relations and relationship building skills.
• Ability to analyze complex financial and technical issues in order to communicate information to the general public.
• Experience with print and digital media.
• Ability to manage sensitive, high-stakes situations with discretion and professionalism.
• Ability to build relationships and collaborate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
• Strong organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and manage multiple projects simultaneously.

Responsibilities

• Executes the visual and digital components of the agency's comprehensive communications strategy to facilitate effective, timely and impactful informational, communications and marketing.
• Develops digital media content, agency branding, videography, photography print collateral materials and social media for the State Treasurer’s Office and its Consumer Programs.
• Assists with writing and editing press releases, speeches, PowerPoint presentations, talking points, reports and other communications for release to the media or general public.
• Develops and maintains reporting and analytics measures to validate the effectiveness and impact of visual and digital communications efforts as they relate to the execution of the agency's communications strategy.
• Additional duties as assigned.
