Job summary

The Annie E. Casey Foundation is seeking a career-level senior communications associate to join the Strategic Communications team.

This role provides strategic thought partnership to Juvenile Justice and Leadership Development staff, develops and maintains communications plans, and distributes tools that advance Casey’s priority messages to external audiences. Qualified candidates will have a bachelor’s degree and at least five years of professional communications or journalism experience, plus

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional communications or journalism experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience, including PM responsibilities.
• Experience developing communications plans, products and tools in a agency or non-agency setting is preferred.
• Supervisory experience and ability to work with senior leaders is required.

Responsibilities

• Provide strategic thought partnership to program staff on Casey’s Juvenile Justice and Leadership Development teams.
• Develop and maintain strategic communications plans and disseminate priority messages to external audiences.
• May manage one communications associate and coordinate cross-functional projects.

Salary Range: $90,000.00 To $100,000.00 Annually

This position will contribute to the Foundation’s strategic communications program by providing strategic thought partnership to program staff on Casey’s Juvenile Justice and Leadership Development teams, developing and maintaining strategic communications plans and disseminating communications products and tools that deliver priority messages to external audiences. The senior communications associate reports to an associate director and may potentially manage one communications associate.

Qualified candidates will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree and a minimum of five years of professional communications or journalism experience or equivalent combination of education and experiencethat includes at least three years of project management responsibilities using a project management or production tracking system/platform or equivalent combination of education and experience
• Experience working for a communications, marketing or public relations agency or working in a non-agency environment to develop communications plans, products and tools is highly preferred
• Communications experience in the field of child welfare, juvenile justice, community or economic development is preferred
• supervisory experience and working with senior leaders a must
