Senior Commodity Manager (Manufacturing - Valves, Fittings, Pumps, Cylinders, etc.)
We are a growing manufacturing company seeking a Senior Commodity Manager to lead commodity management initiatives.
Job Summary
As a Senior Commodity Manager reporting to the Vice President of Supply Management, you will develop and execute commodity strategies to support the business demands and organizational goals.
Job Duties
- Develop and implement commodity strategies for assigned categories (pumps, valves/fittings, tube/hose, cylinders, air/water panels) to generate cost savings, improve supply productivity, and support product innovation.
- Manage cost reduction projects by assembling a cross‑functional team, establishing project timelines, and tracking savings projections and actuals.
- Oversee consignment, stock‑and‑hold, payments terms improvement, eAuction and VAVE initiatives to optimize working capital.
- Maintain master supply agreements and conduct regular supplier quarterly business reviews.
- Serve as escalation point for supplier quality and delivery issues and develop improvement plans.
- Provide analysis and input on product sourcing decisions related to product development.
- Use sourcing tools (eRFX, eAuction, RFQs/RFPs) to support procurement initiatives and perform commodity benchmarking.
- Track performance outcomes via OKR and weekly progress reporting.
- Ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA, EPA, and local safety requirements.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in supply chain, business, operations or related field.
- Minimum 7 years of experience in supply‑chain or commodity management within a manufacturing environment.
- Proficiency with purchasing systems and ERP; experience with contract negotiations and master service agreements.
- Strong analytical skills with MS Office (Excel, Access) and data‑driven sourcing optimization.
- Certification such as CPSM/CPM or APICS is a plus.
- Willingness to travel 5‑10 % and ability to work cross‑functionally with engineering, manufacturing, quality and finance.
