FourLeaf Federal Credit Union in New York is seeking a Senior Commercial Underwriter to assess and decide on commercial loans, including complex C&I and construction deals, ensuring adherence to policy and credit standards. The role allows a remote setup.

You will analyze leases, tax returns, financial statements, and credit reports; prepare CAMs; maintain files; and mentor junior underwriters while supporting a fast-paced lending portfolio.

Qualificações

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance (required).
• 5–9 years of relevant experience in commercial underwriting or lending.
• Strong analytical and risk assessment capabilities for owner-occupied CRE and C&I deals.

Responsabilidades

• Review and analyze commercial loan packages (leases, rent rolls, tax returns, financial statements, credit reports) to determine creditworthiness.
• Prepare financial statement spreads to support borrower analysis.
• Handle high-volume, complex deals including C&I and construction transactions with CAMs.
• Recommend risk ratings or credit restructuring as needed.
• Maintain underwriting files and ensure timely decisioning and closing of loans.
• Collaborate with legal counsel, relationship managers, and lending teams to ensure compliance.
• Support in loan sales processes by providing required documentation.

What You'll Do

The Senior Commercial Underwriter is responsible for commercial credit activities for FourLeaf ensuring consistency with MBL policy and commercial credit standards for commercial lending activities and portfolio.

This opportunity is open to flexible work options including a remote set up.

Core Contributions

• Review and analyze commercial loan packages, including leases, rent rolls, tax returns, financial statements, credit reports, appraisal reports, and environmental reports. Assess market data and risk in order to determine creditworthiness and make a sound credit decision in accordance with FourLeaf’s policies and procedures.
• Prepare spreads of applicants’ financial statements and/or tax returns into a standardized spreadsheet form in order to provide support for financial analysis of the borrower.
• Handle higher volume and more complicated deals including C&I and construction transactions. Prepare detailed credit approval memos (CAMs) to be reviewed by department AVP and FourLeaf credit committee, ensuring adherence to FourLeaf lending guidelines and including full analysis of property occupancy, cash flow, market outlook, guarantor strength, potential risks and mitigating factors.
• Recommend risk ratings and/or credit restructuring based on risks identified during underwriting.
• Assist in upkeep of the commercial credit pipeline and provide updated statuses for loan files in process. The underwriter will take ownership of the assigned file, ensuring that all loans are decisioned and closed within the expected timeframes.
• Correspond and collaborate with FourLeaf legal counsel, relationship managers, commercial operations specialists, commercial lending management, members, and prospective members as necessary while maintaining extraordinary standards of service.
• Assist Commercial Capital Markets Manager in providing answers and documentation to participants’ requests for loan sales.
• Maintain underwriting files and review loan documentation prepared by legal counsel to ensure accuracy of information and continued adherence to FourLeaf policies and procedures.
• Assist with answering auditors’ questions and requests during internal and external audits of FourLeaf’s commercial lending portfolio and underwriting practices.
• Assist the workout and portfolio teams for annual review and workout evaluation and proposals.
• Mentor and coach other underwriters or teammates.
• Assist in updating lending and underwriting policies, guidelines and procedures to ensure compliance.

Assets You Will Bring

• Bachelor’s Degree in Business/Finance.
• 5-9 years of experience.
• Strong analytical skills for documentation and evaluating owner occupied commercial real estate transactions and C&I.

The estimated salary for this role is $106,391.00 - $127,669.00 annually. (FourLeaf Federal Credit Union offers a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, and vision coverage; life and disability insurance; voluntary benefit programs; a 401(k) plan with employer match; reimbursement and wellness programs; and an annual performance-based bonus.)
