Sylvester & Cockrum in Charlotte, NC seeks a Commercial Service Electrician to troubleshoot, repair, maintain and install electrical systems in occupied commercial facilities. The role requires strong technical knowledge and the ability to work independently while upholding professional standards on client sites.

You will diagnose power, lighting, controls, and equipment issues, perform upgrades and retrofits, ensure code compliance, and document work while communicating clearly with facility

Qualifications

• 5+ years of commercial electrical experience.
• Knowledge of electrical codes, safety practices, and installation standards.
• Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications.
• Valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose electrical issues in commercial systems including power distribution, lighting, controls, and equipment connections.
• Troubleshoot electrical failures and implement effective repair solutions.
• Respond to service calls for electrical problems in commercial facilities.
• Install and repair electrical systems including panels, breakers, wiring, lighting systems, and electrical equipment.
• Perform electrical upgrades, retrofits, and small installation projects in existing buildings.
• Ensure installations meet electrical codes, safety standards, and project specifications.
• Communicate clearly with facility managers, property managers, and clients.
• Explain system issues and recommended repairs.
• Maintain a professional presence while representing Sylvester & Cockrum on client sites.
• Complete service reports and work orders accurately.
• Document materials used and work completed during service calls.Communicate job updates with supervisors and service coordinators.
• Follow company safety policies and OSHA regulations.
• Maintain safe work practices and identify jobsite hazards.
• Keep work areas clean and organized.
