Job summary

APPA's Claremont campus seeks a Commercial HVAC Service Technician with seven to ten years of experience to inspect, maintain, repair, and install complex systems across campus facilities.

You will diagnose issues from blueprints, perform preventive maintenance, work with building automation systems, and participate in on-call rotations. A valid driver's license and EPA certification are required; overtime and weekend hours are possible.

Qualifications

• 7–10 years of demonstrated experience in commercial HVAC applying the techniques of the trade.
• Fluent English language skills including reading, writing, and comprehension.
• Ability to work in conditions requiring safety compliance with OSHA/Cal/OSHA rules.

Responsibilities

• Maintain and repair HVAC equipment including chillers, boilers, cooling towers, DX systems, and related components.
• Interpret blueprints and instructions to determine operation sequences for maintenance and repair.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and recommend repairs to keep equipment in good condition.
• Replace compressors, pumps, seals, and motors as needed.
• Perform start-ups and emergency service calls.
• Complete service reports with accurate notes and readings.
• Access BAS/EMS systems via front-end terminals and perform routine maintenance.
• Troubleshoot using electrical, mechanical, or pneumatic testing equipment.
• Assist in installing major new air conditioning systems and related equipment.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
