Overview

Join to apply for the Senior Commercial Field Underwriter CA role at WCF Insurance.

WCF is an A-rated insurance carrier growing in the western states. The middle market underwriting department has an immediate opening for someone who can demonstrate the WCF values to join their team as Senior Commercial Field Underwriter, reporting to the Director, Underwriting. Preference is for this person to be in the Sacramento or San Diego areas. If within 50 miles of the Roseville office, in office is required Tuesday-Thursday each week.

Responsibilities
  • Perform quantitative and qualitative risk analysis to form an underwriting assessment of accounts, underwrite new and renewal accounts.
  • Manage a book of business to achieve premium growth, retention, profitability, and service policies within letter of authority.
  • Initiate and make in-person sales and stewardship calls to agents.
  • Manage agency relationships to achieve company growth and strategic objectives.
  • Coordinate claims, safety, and premium audit services on large accounts.
  • Build the WCF brand and long-term agency and account relationships.
Qualifications
  • At least five years of multiline underwriting experience preferred.
  • Experience writing complex policies up to 1 million in premium.
  • Excellent knowledge and understanding of state / NCCI workers compensation manuals, guidelines, rating elements, bureaus and the competitive landscape.
  • Established relationships with producer community.
  • CPCU, ARM, CIC or similar certifications preferred.
  • Intermediate skills in Microsoft Office Suite, Excel experience required.
  • Excellent communication and influencing skills, verbal and written.
  • Excellent critical thinking, problem solving, analytical skills and a self-starter.
  • Bachelor's degree in business or other related field preferred.

WCF Insurance offers an extensive compensation package. Benefits include Medical, Dental, and Vision insurance, company paid life insurance, 401K with a 6% employer match and additional benefits such as an Employee Assistance Program and time off to volunteer. All employees earn 4 weeks of vacation their first year. Base salary for this position for someone located in California is between $110,000 and $140,000.

An internal candidate should have six months in their current position, acceptable job performance, and must notify their current supervisor that they've applied for the position.
