Insight Global in Columbus, OH is seeking a Senior Commercial Credit Underwriter to evaluate and approve commercial loan applications in alignment with the bank's risk appetite. Qualifications

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience as an analyst or underwriter.
  • Proficiency in using nCino for credit underwriting and workflow management is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending products and structures including CRE, C&I, SBA (optional), and ABL.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Underwrite new and existing commercial credit relationships, including term loans, working capital lines, real estate, and equipment financing.
  • Analyze borrower and guarantor financials including tax returns, balance sheets, income statements, cash flow, and debt service capacity.
  • Prepare detailed credit memoranda and risk ratings in compliance with internal policies and regulatory requirements.
  • Leverage the nCino platform to manage the loan origination process, track workflows, upload supporting documentation, and maintain data integrity.
  • Recommend appropriate loan structures, covenants, and risk mitigation strategies based on borrower profile and industry risk.
  • Participate in credit committee discussions and assist with presentations as needed.
  • Support periodic loan reviews, renewals, and annual reviews to monitor borrower performance and emerging risks.
  • Communicate proactively with relationship managers and senior credit leaders regarding deal terms, policy exceptions, and approval conditions.
  • Stay current on economic trends, industry sectors, and regulatory developments affecting commercial credit risk.

Summary: The Senior Commercial Credit Underwriter is responsible for evaluating and analyzing commercial loan applications to ensure sound credit decisions that align with the bank’s risk appetite and working with the Chief Credit Officer at maintaining a good credit culture for the Bank. This role works closely with relationship managers, credit officers, loan operations teams and other commercial credit underwriters to assess risk, recommend structures, and mitigate potential losses. In addition, this role will require to closely with the Chief Credit Officer on improving the Bank’s credit culture that could pertain to changes in loan policy, the Bank’s credit process, or long-term development of other commercial credit underwriters, etc. Experience with nCino, a Salesforce-based loan origination system, is highly preferred

  • Assisting or overseeing the long‑term development of other commercial credit underwriters.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Education and Experience:
  • Minimum of 5 years’ experience as an analyst or underwriter is required.
  • In-depth understanding of financial statement analysis, debt service coverage, leverage, liquidity, and cash flow projections.
  • Proficiency in using nCino for credit underwriting and workflow management is strongly preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of commercial lending products and structures, including CRE, C&I, SBA (optional), and ABL.
  • Familiarity with banking regulations, loan documentation, and risk rating systems.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to write clear, concise credit memoranda.
  • Attention to detail, analytical mindset, and ability to manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel, Word, and financial spreading software.
  • Minimum 2 years experience managing or overseeing a team of commercial credit underwriters.
