Job summary

Willdan is seeking a Senior Combination Building Inspector to join our Costa Mesa/Irvine area team. This role focuses on safeguarding communities through advanced building inspections, safety compliance, and effective communication with homeowners, contractors, and city partners.

As an ICC-certified professional with 5+ years of municipal experience, you’ll mentor staff, issue permits and notices, and stay current with evolving building standards while supporting Willdan’s mission and growth in

Qualifications

• ICC Certifications - Commercial and Residential along with Electrical, Mechanical, or Plumbing.
• 5+ years of inspection experience with municipalities.
• Strong communication and problem-solving skills when working with contractors, city staff, and the public.
• Ability to occasionally lift up to 25 pounds and perform fieldwork safely.
• Commitment to professional growth and continued education.

Responsibilities

• Conduct combination inspections before, during, and after construction to ensure compliance with building codes and safety regulations.
• Issue permits, violation notices, and stop-work orders when needed.
• Clearly communicate findings with homeowners, contractors, and field personnel.
• Mentor and train inspection staff to build a stronger, more knowledgeable team.
• Serve as a trusted resource for technical guidance and customer service.
• Stay ahead of the curve by integrating new developments in building and safety standards.
