Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector III to lead protection coating programs across projects. You will review coating specs, write inspection plans, investigate failures, audit applicators, and supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors.

This senior technical role requires CIP Level 3 and 8+ years of coatings inspection, with PCS preferred. Pay ranges from $55 to $75 per hour, with travel to field sites and occasional night shifts.

Qualifications

CIP Level 3 certification current, with 8+ years of coatings inspection experience.
Experience in failure investigation and supervision of Level 1/2 inspectors.
Broad exposure across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.

Responsibilities

Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
Investigate coating failures: field evaluation, sampling, laboratory coordination, and findings.
Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
Supervise and develop Level 1 and 2 inspectors; calibrate acceptance standards.
Advise owners and engineers on coating systems, service life, and maintenance planning.
