Job summary

Construction Material Testing seeks a Coatings Inspector III to lead protective coatings across projects. You will review and write coating specifications and inspection plans, investigate failures, audit applicators and suppliers, and advise owners and engineers on system quality and life.

Required: AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 3 with 8+ years in coatings inspection and supervision; PCS preferred. Pay is $55–$75/hr with travel, project-based assignments nationwide including Nevada.

Qualifications

• AMPP (NACE) CIP Level 3 certification current with 8+ years in coatings inspection and supervision.
• Coating failure investigation experience.
• AMPP Protective Coatings Specialist (PCS) preferred.
• Broad experience across industrial, water/wastewater, marine, and infrastructure coatings.
• Ability to write specifications and findings that withstand review by owners and manufacturers.

Responsibilities

• Review and write coating specifications, inspection and test plans, and quality requirements.
• Investigate coating failures: field evaluation, sampling, lab coordination, and written findings.
• Audit applicators and coating suppliers; qualify inspection subcontractors.
• Supervise Level 1 and 2 inspectors; calibrate acceptance standards.
• Advise owners and engineers on coating systems, service life, and maintenance planning.
