Job summary

Garney Construction is seeking a Senior Coating Technician to oversee daily field tasks and mentor technicians. You will perform coating and testing activities, lead a team, and coordinate with supervision to ensure quality and safety on site.

The role requires minimum 3 years in high-performance coatings, training others, and ability to operate spray equipment and pump systems. Enid, OK-based field position with comprehensive benefits and competitive pay.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years in high-performance coating applications.
• Trains others in abrasive blasting, water blasting, injection grouting, coatings, and tests.
• Competent Person Trained: confined space, fall protection, silica, scaffolding.
• Operates and maintains pump systems and spray equipment.
• Able to drive pickup with a trailer and perform routine troubleshooting.

Responsibilities

• Identify when and where to perform blasting, coating, and adhesion tests.
• Lead STAC meetings and coach team members.
• Communicate effectively with Foreman and Superintendent.
• Lead a team of laborers and technicians when required.
• Assess conditions and determine corrective actions.
• Motivate the team to perform and maintain a positive attitude.

Job description

Senior Coating Technician position is available at Garney. In this position, you will be accountable for all daily field tasks. Your role involves independently performing all activities essential to day-to-day operations without supervision. Additionally, you will be responsible for training and mentoring technicians and laborers.

WHAT YOU WILL BE DOING

• Ability to identify where & when to perform abrasive blasting, water blasting, injection grouting, coatings, holiday test, and adhesion test
• Consistently leads & coaches others on STAC meetings
• Ability to communicate effectively with the Foreman & Superintendent
• Ability to lead a team of laborers & technicians when required
• Ability to assess conditions & issues and determine suitable corrective action
• A positive attitude builds up the team. Can motivate their team to perform
• Ability to accurately observe & report conditions & issues to their supervisor

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

• Trains others to Abrasive Blast, water blast, injection grouting, apply coatings, and perform holiday/adhesion testing
• Competent Person Trained: Confined space, fall protection, silica, and scaffolding
• Ability to operate & maintain pump systems and spray equipment
• Ability to safely drive a pickup truck with a trailer attached
• Can evaluate defective or damaged equipment and take corrective action
• Engages in, and provides input to project planning meetings with Superintendent
• Minimum of 3 years in high-performance coating application(s)
