Job summary

Research Innovations Inc. is seeking a Senior Security Researcher to build offense-grade software for contested environments. You will design CNO capabilities across userland, kernel, and network layers, modernize legacy tooling, and develop software for Windows, Linux/Unix, embedded, and mobile devices.

Qualifications

• Significant experience programming in C and Python.
• Direct experience developing CNO or exploit capabilities.
• Embedded or firmware development on resource-constrained systems.
• Experience in Windows applications using Visual Studio or .NET, or UNIX apps with makefiles or equivalent build environments.
• Familiarity with Git, SVN, or CVS.

• Build offense-grade software that operates in denied, constrained, and adversarial environments.
• Design, implement, and debug custom CNO capabilities across userland, kernel, and network layers.
• Tear down, modernize, and re-engineer legacy and acquired tooling for performance, stealth, and maintainability.
• Develop software that runs where defenders don’t want it (Windows, Linux/Unix, embedded, mobile, and network devices).
• Perform deep binary analysis and reverse engineering across architectures and calling conventions.
• Own and evolve reproducible build systems, toolchains, and test harnesses.
• Work close to the metal: compilers, loaders, memory, execution flow, and runtime behavior.
• Travel as determined by the customer.

Qualifications

• Experience developing in one or more of the following: Windows applications using Visual Studio or .NET environments; UNIX applications using make files or comparable build environments
• Familiarity with software version control tools (Git, Subversion, or CVS)
• Familiarity with CI/CD pipeline concepts and tools (Jenkins, GitLab, or Bamboo)
• Experience using software debugging/troubleshooting tools and techniques
• Software Analysis/Reverse Engineering experience
• Comfort writing assembly or mixed C/ASM when the problem demands it
• Excellent oral, written, and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to effectively interact with customers
• Mentored and coached other engineers or fulfilled the role of Tech Lead
• Experience working across OSI layers, including packet-level analysis and manipulation
