Job summary

Penn Manufacturing Industries is seeking a hands-on CNC Manager to lead the machining department, drive quality, throughput, and team development. The ideal candidate will be a Mastercam programmer with deep 5-axis experience, capable of moving between programming, shop floor, and planning meetings.

You will steer daily performance, mentor machinists and programmers, own scheduling, and partner with engineering to grow multi-axis capabilities while upholding safety and lean manufacturing

Qualifications

• 5+ years of leadership or supervisory experience in a CNC machining environment.
• Advanced proficiency in Mastercam, including 5-axis simultaneous toolpath programming.
• Strong knowledge of CNC machine operation, setup, work holding, and cutting tool technology.
• Ability to read and interpret complex blueprints, CAD models, and GD&T.
• Proficient with precision measuring instruments (micrometers, calipers, height gauges, bore gauges, etc.).
• Working knowledge of G-code and common controls (e.g., Fanuc and Haas).
• Demonstrated ability to manage schedules, meet deadlines, and lead teams under production pressure.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead CNC machinists, operators, and programmers across shifts.
• Develop efficient toolpaths and setups to reduce cycle times and improve part quality.
• Verify programs using simulation and machine verification tools to prevent crashes and scrap.
• Plan machining schedules to meet delivery dates and maximize machine utilization.
• Drive lean initiatives (5S, setup reduction, standard work) and identify opportunities for automation.
• Partner with engineering, quality, purchasing, and maintenance to resolve issues and plan capacity.
