Job summary

Richardson Electronics, Ltd. is seeking a full-time CNC/CAM Programmer in LaFox, IL to program, set up and operate milling machines and ensure throughput and equipment maintenance.

Candidates should have 6–10 years of CAM/CNC programming experience, read blueprints, set up fixtures, and verify parts meet specifications in a lean manufacturing environment.

  • Good vision for inspecting work and preparing programs/drawings on computer.

Job Description

Program, set up and operate a variety of machine tools and milling machines to machine metallic work pieces. Responsible for throughput of milling machines and takes care of maintenance of equipment.

Job Responsibilities
Essential Job Functions
  • Creates and writes CNC programs using CAM computer and/or programming language of CNC machine.
  • Sets up and runs CNC machines.
  • Completes paperwork to maintain records and department standards.
  • Reads complex blueprints and /or job orders for product specification such as dimensions and tolerance.
  • Reads tooling instructions such as fixtures, feed rates, cutting speeds, depth of cut and determines sequence of operations.
  • Selects tool, positions and secures tool holder (chuck, collet, or tool post).
  • Designs and makes moderate fixtures and holding devices.
  • Sets up fixturing
  • Observe operation of machine and verifies conformance of machine work piece to specifications.
  • Studies specification such as blueprints, sketches, models or descriptions and visualizes product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts.
  • Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determine method and sequence of operations.
  • Responsible for achieving the desired quality level on parts manufactured personally and by lower level machinists and operators, with the highest degree of labor efficiency possible.

Qualification Requirements

Extended periods of standing. Must be able to lift 50 lbs. Good vision for inspecting work and preparing programs/drawings on computer. 6-10 years in CAM and CNC programming. Experience in setting up CNC lathes and mills a must.

Working Environment

Clean, well-lit, air-conditioned area. Must be very safety oriented in the use of all machinery.

Pay Range: $33-$36 per hour plus incentive
