laborup is seeking a Senior 5-Axis CNC Machinist to join a precision manufacturing facility in Alabama. You will lead setup and prove-out of new machining projects on Hermle/Heller/DN Solutions platforms, develop repeatable processes, and collaborate with engineering and programming to deliver first articles and production runs.

The role focuses on complex 5-axis setups, advanced process development, and mentoring peers.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience.
  • 5-axis setup experience.
  • Blueprint reading and GD&T.
  • Tight-tolerance machining experience.
  • First-piece inspection experience.
  • Strong tooling and workholding knowledge.
  • Machining troubleshooting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Lead setup and prove-out of new machining projects.
  • Complete complex 5-axis setups independently.
  • Develop fixturing, tooling, and workholding strategies.
  • Optimize machining processes for repeatable production.
  • Perform first-piece and in-process inspections.
  • Troubleshoot machining, tooling, and process issues.
  • Support automation and robotic cells in production.
  • Document and transfer processes to production.
  • Drive continuous improvement of machining performance and cycle times.
  • Mentor less experienced machinists as needed.

Responsibilities
  • New Product Launches:Lead setup and prove‑out of new machining projects.
  • Machine Setups:Independently complete complex 5‑axis setups.
  • Workholding:Develop fixturing, tooling, and workholding strategies.
  • Process Development:Optimize machining processes for repeatable production.
  • Inspection:Perform first‑piece and in‑process inspections.
  • Troubleshooting:Resolve machining, tooling, and process issues.
  • Automation:Support robotic cells and lights‑out manufacturing.
  • Production Support:Document and transfer processes to production.
  • Continuous Improvement:Improve machining performance and cycle times.
  • Mentorship:Support less experienced machinists as needed.
Qualifications
Required
  • 5+ years of CNC machining experience
