Job summary

Altium Packaging in Sparta, Tennessee is seeking a CNC Lathe Machinist to program, set up, and operate Haas and Doosan lathes to produce high-precision tooling and mold components. You will read blueprints, develop NC programs using EZ-CAM, perform setups, and inspect parts with precision gauges; overtime may be required.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 6 years of dedicated experience programming and operating CNC lathes.
• Advanced experience with Haas and Doosan CNC lathes.
• Ability to independently program, set up, and operate CNC equipment.
• Strong understanding of machining principles, tooling, feeds and speeds, and GD&T.
• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Proficiency using precision measuring instruments including micrometers, sine plates, calipers, and gauges.
• Excellent attention to detail and commitment to quality.

Responsibilities

• Program, set up, and operate Haas and Doosan CNC lathes to produce high precision‑machined mold tooling and die components.
• Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, and work instructions.
• Develop, edit, and optimize CNC machining programs to improve efficiency and quality.
• Perform machine setups, tool changes, and make necessary program adjustments.
• Operate Haas CNC milling equipment as needed to support tooling and production requirements.
• Utilize EZ-CAM software to create and modify CNC programs.
• Inspect finished parts using precision measuring instruments to ensure compliance with tolerance specifications.
• Troubleshoot machining issues and implement corrective actions to minimize downtime.
• Maintain equipment and work area in accordance with safety, housekeeping, and preventive maintenance standards.
• Collaborate with Tool Room, Maintenance, Engineering, and Production teams to support manufacturing objectives.
• Follow all company safety policies, requirements and procedures.
• Keep work areas clean and organized to maintain a safe work environment.
• Ability to work overtime or fill absences as needed based on the needs of the business.
• Ability to work assigned shift.
• Reasonable mandatory overtime may be required due to business needs.
