Job summary

Thompson Engineering in New Orleans seeks an experienced Construction Materials Testing (CMT) Project Manager to oversee testing and special inspection projects end-to-end. You will lead teams, manage scopes, schedules, and budgets, and ensure high-quality results meeting industry standards.

The role requires strong project management, technical CMT knowledge, and the ability to coordinate field and lab work while maintaining client relationships and safety compliance.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or related field.
• 3-5 years in construction materials testing with 1-2 years in PM or supervisory roles.
• Strong knowledge of CMT processes, standards, and reporting requirements.
• Proficiency in scheduling, budgeting, and client communication.
• NICET Level II+ and ACI/ICC certifications preferred, PE a plus.

Responsibilities

• Plan, coordinate, and manage multiple CMT projects from start to finish.
• Develop project scopes, schedules, and budgets.
• Assign and oversee technicians and inspectors in field and lab settings.
• Monitor progress to ensure compliance with requirements and standards.
• Serve as primary client contact and build relationships for repeat business.
• Prepare proposals, cost estimates, and project work plans.
• Provide technical guidance for soils, asphalt, concrete, aggregates, and structural steel testing.
• Review reports for accuracy and compliance; ensure safety and quality controls.
• Support training and mentoring of technicians and junior staff.
