Job summary

Orlando Health Jewett Orthopedic Institute is seeking a Sr. Certified Medical Assistant to join its ambulatory care team. The role leads patient care under physician/APP supervision and mentors staff to drive quality outcomes.

The ideal candidate will have at least three years of CMA experience, formal MA training, and current BLS together with CMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA certification eligibility. You will support patients, families, and procedures in a fast-paced orthopedic setting.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or equivalent.
• Successful completion of Medical Assistant training from an approved technical school (or 5 years of verifiable applicable work experience in patient care setting) required.
• Minimum three (3) years as Certified Medical Assistant.
• Maintains current American Heart Association BLS Healthcare Provider Certification.
• Maintains certification as CMA/AMT/CCMA/NCMA (as applicable).

Responsibilities

• Accountable to the Assistant Nurse Manager, Nursing Operations Manager, or Practice Manager for operational issues.
• Embraces and participates in quality initiatives, goal attainment, and clinical outcome process improvement activities.
• Supports and demonstrates effective and professional communication with patients and family members.
• Works collaboratively with the administrative and operations staff.
• Gathers patient data through interview and observation.
• Assists patients and families with preparation for examination.
• Assists the physician during examination and procedures.
• Demonstrates competency in specific tasks and skills as defined by the practice.
• Provides routine treatments and administers approved medication types as ordered by the provider.
• Enter medication, laboratory and diagnostic imaging orders into the electronic medical system under direction of a provider.
• Documents patient data, treatments, procedures, and patient education according to Orlando Health and department specific policies.
• Helps develop and coordinate the orientation process in the assigned practice for Medical Assistants. Acts as preceptor and/or oversees assigned preceptor(s) in collaboration with nursing/clinical leadership and corporate Learning Consultant.
