Pearson is seeking a Lead Specialist, Solution Architect to guide multiple engineering teams in modernising Pearson's OnVUE platform. You will translate business needs into practical architecture, drive design through implementation and ensure scalable, secure delivery.

The role combines deep Java and cloud-native expertise with strong influencing skills to shape technical direction across squads, mentor engineers, and communicate with stakeholders.

Competenze

• Progressive experience in software engineering or solution architecture.
• Strong Java enterprise architecture experience with Spring/Spring Boot.
• Experience across front-end and back-end tech including Angular.
• Cloud experience, preferably Azure; AWS also relevant.
• Kubernetes and cloud-native delivery expertise.
• Experience designing scalable, reliable distributed apps.
• Strong API and service integration skills.
• Ability to lead technical decisions across teams without authority.
• Excellent communication, facilitation and mentoring skills.
• Bonus: experience with LLMs, ML, or related tech.

• Own solution architecture from discovery and design through implementation and production adoption.
• Translate business needs, constraints and technical requirements into secure, scalable and maintainable designs.
• Set technical direction across squads and maintain consistency across the wider OnVUE solution footprint.
• Guide engineering teams through implementation while preserving architectural intent.
• Evaluate trade-offs across scalability, resilience, security, maintainability, integration risk and business value.
• Resolve complex architecture, integration and build issues, escalating decisions outside the assigned scope.
