Job summary

CloudFit Software in Lynchburg, VA is seeking a Senior Software Development Engineer to design, build, and support modern cloud-based applications. You will own features end-to-end, mentor teammates, and drive engineering practices across the team.

You will lead technical projects, collaborate with customers and stakeholders, and advance security, observability, and reliability. On-site work requires 6–8 years of experience, strong fundamentals, and hands-on CI/CD/DevOps expertise.

Qualifications

• 6 – 8 years' experience building and supporting modern cloud-based or distributed applications.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals, including object-oriented design, data structures, algorithms, and system design.
• Proven examples of learning and implementing solution from new technologies.
• Experience creating patterns, libraries, and processes that empower software development teams

Responsibilities

• Design, build, deploy, and support cloud-native applications and services.
• Own features and systems across their lifecycle, from planning and development through production support.
• Make thoughtful technical trade-offs that balance quality, speed, security, and business needs.
• Help manage multiple applications at scale by building tools and automation to ensure quality and consistency.
• Lead technical projects and help the team plan, estimate, and manage delivery risks.
• Mentor engineers through code reviews, design discussions, and knowledge sharing.
• Improve engineering standards, automation, testing, and system reliability.
• Foster a culture of technical excellence that spans across the company
• Partner with customers and stakeholders to clarify requirements and shape practical solutions.
• Communicate technical recommendations clearly to technical and non-technical audiences.
• Participate in Agile planning, engineering reviews, and cross-team collaboration.
• Build security, observability, and maintainability into the solutions you deliver.
• Help evolve team processes and tools through continuous improvement.
