Job summary

Amazon Security’s AWS Vulnerability Management team seeks a Senior Software Development Engineer in Austin, TX. You will build and maintain security services to protect AWS customers and infrastructure, scaling vulnerability management across vast cloud-scale environments.

You will mentor engineers, lead design reviews, and collaborate with service teams to integrate open-source security controls. The role blends architecture, development, and security in a fast-paced cloud setting.

Qualifications

• 5+ years of non-internship professional software development experience.
• 5+ years of programming with at least one software programming language experience.
• 5+ years of leading design or architecture (design patterns, reliability and scaling) of new and existing systems experience.
• Experience as a mentor, tech lead or leading an engineering team.
• Bachelor's degree in computer science or equivalent

Responsibilities

• Identify technical requirements based on business goals and product direction, and translate into architecture and design.
• Lead multi-engineer, cross-team projects and mentor others on project management and prioritization.
• Deliver quality projects and features on time and on budget.
• Lead design reviews for the engineering team and drive technical best practices.
• Oversee full lifecycle: prioritization, task breakdowns, design docs, reviews, implementation, deployment and operations.
• Perform data analysis to optimize services.
• Stay current with evolving technology and bring in new technologies when appropriate.
