Job summary

Acclaim Technical Services in Chantilly, VA, seeks a Senior Network/Communications Engineer to design, deploy, and operate a global communications network connecting AWS hubs to country hubs and POEs in dozens of nations. Hybrid role with 30–40% international travel for surveys, cutovers, and restorations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree with 10+ years of professional experience or equivalent.
• Proficiency configuring and installing network hardware and software (routers, switches, firewalls).
• Strong AWS networking experience including IaC/Terraform and global WAN deployment.
• Experience with VSAT, LOS, and ISP coordination.
• Ability to troubleshoot complex hybrid network issues under uptime constraints.
• Excellent documentation skills and ability to create engineering specifications.
• 30–40% international travel; must possess an active passport or ability to obtain.
• Detail-oriented approach to network design and security considerations.

Responsibilities

• Design and develop communications products and network technologies to meet operational requirements.
• Configure and install communications and networking equipment including VSAT, Cisco routers, switches, and firewalls.
• Coordinate with telecommunications and ISP vendors to maintain purchased technologies.
• Monitor and manage network performance using NOC tools to ensure optimal functionality.
• Conduct testing of network designs and implement enhancements to improve performance.
• Create standards and baselines for network equipment and ensure security updates.
• Produce engineering documentation and network diagrams for government stakeholders.
• Plan and execute TDYs for OCONUS network maintenance and installations.
• Provide training on network and VSAT systems to mitigate cyber threats.
