Job summary

Bowhead seeks a Senior Application Developer to support the Nautical contract in the Arlington, VA area. This role leads modernization of legacy DoD systems, delivering cloud-native architectures and mentoring developers.

Responsibilities include architecture design, DevOps, microservices, and security controls, with a travel stipend possible. Salary range targeted at $165k–$230k commensurate with experience.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field or equivalent years of experience.
• 10+ years of progressive software development with cloud apps; Master’s preferred.
• Expert-level proficiency in C++ and Java; cloud platforms and microservices.

Responsibilities

• Lead architectural design and development of cloud-native applications for DoD modernization.
• Drive technical decision-making for migration and modernization strategies.
• Mentor junior and mid-level developers on best practices and advanced techniques.
• Design and implement scalable, secure cloud architectures with best practices.
• Lead code reviews, establish standards, and QA procedures.
