Job summary

PayJoy, Inc. in San Francisco, CA, seeks a Senior Engineering Manager, Cloud Infrastructure, to lead the team building scalable cloud platforms and developer tooling. You will set technical direction and partner with cross-functional leaders to align infrastructure with product priorities.

You will drive architecture, reliability, security, and cost efficiency while mentoring managers and engineers to deliver high-impact, production-grade solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
• 12+ years of software engineering, infrastructure engineering, platform engineering, or related technical experience.
• 4+ years of engineering management experience.
• Proven experience building, operating, and scaling cloud-native platforms, distributed systems, or developer infrastructure.
• Hands-on experience with AWS and modern cloud architecture patterns.
• Strong background in DevOps, IaC, CI/CD, automation, and platform engineering.
• Experience designing reliable, scalable, secure, and cost-efficient cloud infra for production.
• Strong understanding of software architecture, distributed systems, networking, storage, security, observability, and operational excellence.
• Experience balancing technical debt, infra investment, risk reduction, and feature delivery.
• Demonstrated success leading initiatives across multiple teams.
• Strong incident management and operational leadership experience.

Responsibilities

• Define and execute long-term strategy and architecture for cloud infra, developer platforms, CI/CD, and shared services.
• Drive delivery of large-scale infra initiatives balancing reliability, scalability, security, and cost.
• Establish processes, operating rhythms, service ownership models, and standards for quality and efficiency.
• Partner with Product, Engineering, Security, Compliance, Finance, and executives to align investments with business goals.
• Foster accountability, inclusion, technical excellence, collaboration, and continuous improvement.
