Job summary

Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory seeks a Senior Cloud Engineer to design, implement, and manage cloud solutions supporting NNSA missions. The role is within the Enterprise Infrastructure Services division and requires on-site presence across multiple sites with occasional travel.

You will deploy cloud infrastructure, develop IaC and automation, and collaborate with researchers and IT staff to optimize workloads while adhering to DOE/NNSA security standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in IT/CS/Engineering or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Significant cloud platform administration experience (AWS, Azure, GCP or hybrid).
• Advanced knowledge of IaC tools and cloud services.
• Experience documenting and deploying cloud services securely per standards.

Responsibilities

• Deploy and manage cloud infrastructure for scientific, engineering, and business apps.
• Develop automation scripts and IaC for provisioning and management.
• Apply Python for automation and use cloud SDKs for deployment.
• Collaborate with researchers, engineers, and IT staff to migrate workloads.
• Monitor performance, ensure high availability, scalability, and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with DOE/NNSA security policies and regulations.
• Provide documentation and training for cloud users enterprise-wide.
• Stay updated on emerging cloud technologies and adoption opportunities.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
