Job summary

Inductive Automation, LLC is seeking a Senior Cloud Engineer I to design and manage cloud systems, collaborating with Software and Sales Engineering to deliver scalable infrastructure on AWS, Azure, and GCP.

The role emphasizes IaC with Terraform/CloudFormation, container orchestration on EKS, ECS, and Fargate, and security/compliance across platforms. A strong Linux background and 4–6 years of experience are expected.

Qualifications

• 4–6 years of cloud engineering experience.
• Experience with design of cloud architectures across AWS, Azure, and GCP.
• Hands-on Linux/Unix administration.
• Experience building Infrastructure as Code with Terraform and CloudFormation.
• Container orchestration with Kubernetes (EKS/ECS/Fargate).
• Experience with cloud monitoring (DataDog/New Relic/Dynatrace/CloudWatch).
• Knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery.

Responsibilities

• Design and manage Inductive Automation’s cloud systems and strategy.

Job Description

The Senior Cloud Engineer I (Information Technology) works closely with the Software Engineering and Sales Engineering Divisions to research, design and implement systems and/or infrastructure. The Senior Cloud Engineer I (Information Technology) assists in the design and management of cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy.

P03-Senior (Career Level): Work is generally independent and collaborative in nature. Contributes to moderately complex aspects of a project. Delivers assigned cloud components and workstreams, seeking guidance on broader architectural decisions. Typically requires 4-6 years of related experience. This is a full-time position with remote, on-site, or hybrid opportunities available.

Responsibilities

• Designing and managing Inductive Automation’s cloud systems, applications, policies, and strategy
• Developing and modifying scalable architecture to support applications and infrastructure on IaaS and PaaS platforms (AWS, Azure, GCP)
• Building and maintaining infrastructure-as-code (Terraform, CloudFormation) for cloud environments
• Deploying and operating containerized workloads on Kubernetes (Amazon EKS), Amazon ECS, and AWS Fargate
• Managing configuration and patching of cloud systems with AWS Systems Manager
• Evaluating and identifying the best cloud solutions for the organization
• Incorporating security management and privacy requirements into cloud hardware, software, and applications
• Designing controls and processes that utilize available audit tools
• Maintaining up-to-date and extensive knowledge of cloud products and technology
• Participating in on-call rotation for customer-facing services

Requirements

• 4-6 years of cloud engineering experience
• Experience with:
  • Systems Design / Cloud Architecture (AWS, Azure, GCP)
  • Cloud Computing (Linux, Containers)
  • IaaS (Infrastructure as a Service), PaaS (Platform as a Service)
  • Requirements Engineering/Analysis
  • Application Performance Monitoring (APM) Software
  • Cloud Infrastructure Monitoring Software (DataDog, New Relic, Dynatrace, CloudWatch)
• Must be highly competent with Linux/Unix
• Strong hands-on experience with core AWS services
• Experience building and maintaining Infrastructure-as-code (IaC) modules, i.e. Terraform, CloudFormation
• Experience deploying and operating containers on Kubernetes (EKS), Amazon ECS, and AWS Fargate
• Experience with AWS Systems Manager for configuration and fleet management
• Knowledge of security, storage, data protection, and disaster recovery protocols
• Willingness to study and keep up on technology
• Strong attention to detail and communication skills (both verbal and written)

Preferred but not required

• Cloud certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Solutions Architect – Associate)
• Experience with Ansible for on-premises configuration management
