Job summary

Black & Veatch is seeking a highly experienced Principal Cloud Engineer to lead the design, implementation, and operation of enterprise cloud environments across Azure, AWS, OCI, and hybrid platforms. You will partner with architecture, cybersecurity, and operations to deliver secure, scalable solutions, mentor engineers, and drive governance, cost optimization, and reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, or related field.
10+ years of experience in infrastructure, systems, cloud engineering, or related technical disciplines.
5+ years designing, implementing, and operating enterprise cloud environments.
Experience with regulated environments and frameworks (CMMC, NIST, ITAR/EAR, FedRAMP).
Excellent communication, collaboration, and stakeholder engagement skills.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and support secure, scalable cloud solutions across Azure, AWS, and OCI.
Develop and maintain cloud architecture standards, patterns, and reference designs.
Lead core cloud services including networking, identity, compute, storage, monitoring, and DR.
Establish IaC standards and automate deployments to improve consistency and reliability.
Partner with cybersecurity to apply security-by-design principles and IAM models.
Drive governance, cost management, and cloud optimization initiatives.
Mentor cloud engineers and influence technology roadmaps and best practices.
