Job summary

Capital One seeks a Sr. Staff Cloud Engineer to lead Asset and Cloud inventory, intelligence, and insights initiatives. The role shapes AI-native solutions across divisions, driving scalable, secure cloud platforms while mentoring engineers and guiding platform strategy.

You’ll collaborate with senior leaders to define API standards and evolve monolithic systems toward microservices and event-driven architectures, balancing hands-on delivery with team enablement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or a related quantitative field
• At least 9 years of experience in software engineering
• At least 6 years of experience in cloud engineering
• Master’s Degree in Computer Science or Software Engineering (preferred)
• 12+ years of coding experience (Java/Scala/Python/Go/Node.js) (preferred)
• 8+ years of experience with public cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, Azure, OCI)
• Experience with multi-tenant platforms and cloud architectures
• Experience with knowledge graphs for asset discovery and topology mapping
• Experience building AI-native platforms or integrating AI capabilities
• Active certifications in cloud infrastructure management or security
